Cindy Pang

Data and Infrastructure Engineer
Software Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics

What’s your background?

I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Western Australia (UWA).

My grandmother was a mathematics teacher, which sparked my passion for maths at a young age. This interest naturally evolved into a fascination for computing and technology, as I strongly believe software and digital innovation represent the future. I’ve always been motivated by the idea of being part of pioneering projects and shaping what comes next.

What’s your job?

I work as a Data and Infrastructure Engineer in the Digital Team at SLB Australia, based in Perth.

My role is focused on building and maintaining data and infrastructure solutions, improving data processing efficiently, testing and debugging code, and continuously enhancing product quality to support business outcomes.

What do you like the most about your job?

What I enjoy the most is the constant learning and the level of responsibility I’m given. I love solving complex problems and helping others through technology.

Being able to speed up processes that directly contribute to revenue generation gives my work real meaning, especially because I can clearly see the impact of what I build.

I also really value the strong social and professional community at SLB, particularly career networks and initiatives supporting women and girls in engineering.

What’s the most challenging part of your job?

Some challenges arise when solutions don’t work as expected. However, having a supportive manager and strong mentorship makes a huge difference.

I’m also learning the importance of knowing when to step away, take a break, and come back with a fresh perspective; it often leads to better solutions.

Why did you choose SLB?

SLB is a global company with a wide range of opportunities, including the possibility to travel and work on international projects.
I was also attracted by the strong focus on training, continuous development, and the supportive work environment.

My experience through university career programs at UWA helped reinforce SLB as a company that genuinely invests in early-career talent.
