Graduate Teacher Program

Location Profile

This is a unique opportunity to help build one of Victoria's great schools from the ground up.

Narrarrang Primary School opens in Term 1, 2026, located on Smith Street in Port Melbourne (3207). It will serve the growing inner-city neighbourhood of Fishermans Bend, providing high-quality education for students from Prep to Year 6, with a long-term enrolment capacity of up to 650 students.

The school has been purposefully designed with flexible, inclusive learning environments. Facilities include collaborative learning spaces, multiple play areas, a playing field, and outdoor areas that promote wellbeing and exploration. Select school facilities will also be available for shared community use outside of school hours.

At Narrarrang, our vision is to empower all learners to thrive - as individuals, as thinkers, and as creators of a better future. We are `Growing Futures, Together' and our values of Connection, Compassion, and Courage guide everything we do.

The Role

We're seeking passionate classroom teachers to help establish our learning culture from day one - a culture of high expectations and deep care, where everyone is seen, know, and valued, and where learning is purposeful, rigorous, and joyful. There will be multiple classroom teachers appointed to commence in Term 1, 2026, and each will play a pivotal role in building strong relationships with students, families and colleagues, and bringing our vision and values to life.

Who We're Looking For:

We're seeking teachers with a strong moral compass, and the courage to help shape something exceptional from the ground up.

You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Have a clear purpose and align with our vision and values
  • Care deeply and connect authentically with students, staff, and families
  • Hold high expectations and believe in every learner's potential for growth
  • Have strong curriculum knowledge and are guided by evidence-informed practice
  • Embrace collaboration, adaptability, and purposeful innovation
  • Are adaptable, and calm, especially in times of change
  • Do what's right, consistently, for students, staff and community
  • Actively contribute to a culture where every learner is seen, known, and valued, and where our values of Connection, Compassion, and Courage are lived daily.

Why This Role Matters

This is a rare chance to help shape not just a school, but a team and a culture.

We're building a school where every learner grows in a culture built on trust, collaboration, and care. We're looking for teachers who are inspired by the potential of what a great school can be and are ready to help shape it.
