You will get a tailored resume, interview training, unlimited interviews, access to our network of host companies, an internship placement relevant to your studies, an accredited WIL course (where applicable) and support during your internship.

Mechatronics Internship Program

The Mechatronics Internship Program includes a 12-week internship placement designed to help you develop hands-on engineering and professional skills, such as problem-solving, teamwork and communication skills.

Why Choose This 12-Week Internship Program?

  • You’ll get experience working on practical tasks with an Australian host company

You’ll gain work experience as you handle engineering tasks relevant to your studies, such as robotics, automation, and microcontroller programming, prototype design, control systems, or data analysis (depending on your host company).

  • You’ll develop knowledge specific to the industry you’re studying towards

You’ll develop your technical skills and get practical industry insights as you apply your knowledge to real-world engineering challenges.

  • You’ll develop your professional skills and employability

As you cooperate with industry professionals, you’ll develop a range of professional skills needed in the working world, such as team-work, problem-solving, and initiative.

Who Can Apply for This Internship Program?

  • Current University Students in Australia

Whether you’re an international or local student studying mechatronics engineering at an Australian university, this internship program will help you gain academic credit and industry experience.

  • New Graduates

If you’re newly graduated or your degree doesn’t require an internship, you can still take part by combining your work experience placement with an accredited Work Integrated Learning (WIL) program to build industry-relevant skills.

Your Internship Placement Experience

Your internship placement will be matched to your internship needs and preferences, including preferred start date, length of placement and location. Example host companies include:

  • A medical technology company based in Western Australia.
  • An equipment customisation company for the petrochemical and HVAC industries in NSW.
  • An aerospace and construction technology firm in Victoria.

What You’ll Do During Your Work Experience Placement

Your tasks will vary depending on the host company, but your internship placement may involve:

  • Assisting with manufacturing drawings, prototype design, and product testing.
  • Conducting stress analysis and evaluating mechanical components.
  • Applying machine learning principles to optimise engineering processes.
  • Collaborating with engineers on system integration and automation projects.
  • Recording and analysing test results for microcontroller and robotics applications.
