Accounting Internship Program

CareerDC Internships charges a coordination fee for each internship program. The service includes a tailored CV, matching with suitable host companies, interview coordination and scheduling, interview coaching, a work experience placement aligned with your studies, academic credit or an accredited Work Integrated Learning (WIL) course (as applicable) and a certificate of completion at the end of the placement.

Reasons to Choose This Internship Program

Get experience in using industry-standard tools

Depending on your host company, you may be exposed to accounting software such as Xero, MYOB or Excel while assisting with day-to-day accounting tasks.

Apply your studies in a real workplace

Your tasks and learning experiences could include bookkeeping, preparing reports, reconciliations or supporting accounts payable and receivable processes. Or gaining an understanding of tax, compliance and financial reporting practices.

Develop employability skills

In addition to technical skills, you'll build communication, teamwork and organisational skills while adapting to an Australian workplace environment.

Who Can Apply?

University students in Australia

If you're enrolled in an accounting degree at an Australian university or college, this program can help you complete your placement requirement while gaining practical industry experience.

Recent graduates and students without a placement requirement

If your course doesn't include an internship requirement, or you've already graduated, you may still be able to take part and combine your work experience placement with a WIL program.

About Internship Hosts and Tasks

Each 12-week internship is matched to your academic background, location and availability. Example host companies include:

  • A chartered accountancy company providing business advisory, taxation, and financial services, with a focus on cloud-based and digital solutions
  • A mining industry leader offering exposure to accounts payable and receivable processes within a dynamic project environment
  • An international accounting services provider supporting clients with bookkeeping, reporting, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions

Your internship tasks and learning experiences will depend on your host company but may include:

  • Learning about preparing and reconciling financial statements, bookkeeping and data entry
  • Supporting accounts payable and receivable functions, bank reconciliations and payment runs
  • Assisting with compliance, reporting, tax preparation and audit documentation
