Who we are:
The Audit Office of South Australia is the independent auditor of the South Australian (SA) public sector. The Auditor-General reports directly to Parliament on audits of state and local government agencies, covering financial reporting and operations, internal controls, and matters of public interest. Our audits assess whether services and activities are effective, efficient and properly accounted for. We also provide recommendations to public sector agencies on improvements they can make to deliver better outcomes for the South Australian community.

What you will be doing:
You will work in a small audit team on assisting or completing audit tasks for a range of public sector clients. These tasks can include:
- documenting business cycles and internal controls
- analytical reviews
- controls and substantive testing
- financial statement verification.
The actual tasks will be dependent on the work plan for your allocated team. You will have team members who will guide and assist you while you learn on the job.
What we are looking for:
- Be in your second or third year of tertiary studies.
- Studying towards an accounting-based degree that meets the requirements for entry to the professional accounting program offered by CPA or CAANZ (accredited tertiary course entry pathways).
- An Australian citizen, permanent resident or a VISA holder with acceptable work conditions, at the time of applying.
- Be interested in exploring auditing as a career.
- Be a curious and proactive learner.

What we do next:
- We will shortlist candidates and schedule an interview with a selection panel (this comprises of two people).
- The interview may use a range of questions and techniques – such as exercises, behavioural questions (where you give an example from your work, education or community experience) or hypothetical questions. We’re looking for a good match for us - please ask questions during this process to check that we are also a good match for you.
- We may do further testing such as psychometric testing and referee checks.
- The selection panel will then make their assessment and notify you of the outcome.
- Offers made to successful candidates will be subject to the results of a national criminal history check.
